Saskia

Evening Swan 17'6" gaff cutter designed by Paul Fisher and built by Christopher van der Craats.

A lot of effort went into making the interior as aesthetically pleasing as possible. This makes the cabin a pleasant place to be, and therefore you are more likely to enjoy being in the boat.

A beautiful boat is also more pleasant to sail. When the winds drops you can simply sit back and admire.

This design was chosen because it provided a comfortable space in which to spend a few days cruising. The cabin has a sink, a stove, a portable toilet and plenty of room for two to sleep in comfort. I have made the sole so that it can be lifted and cushions placed in the centre to create a large double bed.

The boat can be towed on a tandem trailer and it is possible for one person to launch and retrieve her.
I opted for bilge keels as this keeps the draught shallow, allowing for more interesting cruising opportunities while not intruding on the cabin space, as would a centre board.
